On June 1, Warner Home Video (WHV) will offer an up-close and personal look at a legendary Hollywood icon with the feature-length documentary, The Eastwood Factor Extended Version. Narrated by Academy Award ®-winner Morgan Freeman, The Eastwood Factor Extended Version's debut coincides with the upcoming DVD release of Eastwood's latest film, Invictus, as well the introduction of four new WHV Eastwood collections and the world premiere May 31 Turner Classic Movies' airing of the documentary and the release of the Clint Eastwood: 35 Films, 35 Years at Warner Bros. gift set.
The Eastwood Factor Extended Version is written and directed by Time Magazine critic and film historian Richard Schickel. The film had an event screening February 17 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with Eastwood, Freeman and film industry heavyweights in attendance. Considered the largest feature film box set ever released for a single artist, 35 Years at Warner Bros. gift set which will now include The Eastwood Factor Extended Version. The Los Angeles Times' Dennis Lim points to the fact that Eastwood -- currently in post production on his latest, Hereafter -- shows little signs of slowing down. Said Lim: "Approaching his ninth decade, Eastwood continues to work, and perhaps even to evolve. The most flattering thing about this retrospective in a box ... is that it is already out of date."
Consumers who have already purchased Clint Eastwood: 35 Films, 35 Years at Warner Bros. will be able to trade up from their 22-minute documentary to this new feature-length version at no cost by visiting http://www.wbshop.com/Eastwood
The Eastwood Factor presents the five-time Academy Award ®-winning director/star in a way he's rarely seen visiting film locations or sites where his movies were created, and on the Warner lot visiting the costume department and Eastwood Scoring Stage, as well as his hometown of Carmel, Calif. Eastwood's candid, intelligent and often humorous interviews about his body of work and the choices he made, along with Schickel's selection of scenes from his movies, results in a rare view of one of our era's great icons. It is a clear reminder of why Eastwood's career as both a great filmmaker and actor has been so enduring, and his work so respected. His huge popularity is reflected in the more than $500 million dollars in worldwide home video consumer sales since he first made Warner Bros. his home.
In addition to the documentary, the studio will also introduce, in time for Father's Day, four new film collections of Eastwood favorites, perfect for gift giving.
