Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition
Written by Diana Saenger

snowwhite-withprince245.jpgIn 1939 the world received a treat no one knew would entertain millions for years to come. This was the Walt Disney Studios release of the film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Fast forward 70 years and the new technology called Blu-Ray is once again bringing this extraordinary and beloved film to the forefront. The first of what is called the new Diamond Collection, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Diamond Edition is thoroughly restored to the highest level of picture and sound and features groundbreaking state-of-the-art immersive bonus content.

snowwhite-dwarfs_245.jpgEveryone remembers the story of Snow White; the princess whose evil stepmother was so jealous of Snow White's beauty, she ordered her killed. The woodsman didn't have the heart for the job and let Snow White escape. She ended up in a forest where she found a small house occupied by seven little men. The Dwarfs - Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, and Sneezy - love their new roommate and are determined to protect her from the evil Queen. But she's a wily sorcerer who finds a way to put a spell on Snow White and put her into a forever sleep. Nothing the dwarfs can do will reverse the spell. But the charming prince has the magic to awaken Snow White so they can live happily ever after.

The Blu-ray version of the film is amazing to watch. The restoration and brilliant colors add a new magic to the film. The rainbow colors of the dwarf's outfits help create their unique personalities. The sparkling images of the diamonds in the mine that Dopey puts in his eyes accentuate his goofy nature. The sound quality of the wonderful orchestra music enhances every scene.

snowwhite-queen_apple245.jpgSnow White has everything a kid - and some adults - like in a good film. Snow White herself is a beauty that also has poise, grace and a good heart. She never suspects that her step-mother would actually want to kill her. But kids today love their villains big and mean - the better for to do away with them! From the moment she steps in front of her mirror and questions "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest one of all?" to when she dresses as an atrociously ugly peasant, the Queen fits her role perfectly.

The 3-disc Blu-ray includes a regular DVD version and great bonus features. Hyperion Studios, a €˜Backstage Disney' feature, digitally transports viewers to 1937 to discover where Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was conceived and developed. The Magic Mirror serves as the "host" for an immersive experience that allows viewers to create a customized Snow White experience. Mirror, Mirror On The Wall is one of €˜Disney's Family Play' features, through BD-Live. Additional Family Play features include, "What Do You See?" is an interactive game where players must untangle scrambled images and "Jewel Jumble" is a game where jewels from the Dwarfs' mine must be put in order to win the game.
