A stand alone DVD of The Quiet Man was released in 2002 as a collector's edition. In 2007 it was included in the John Wayne Collection: Vol. 1 The Quiet Man, The Sands of Iwo Jima, Flying Tigers, The Wake of the Red Witch), and in the Collector's Pack (The Quiet Man, Rio Grande, The Sands of Iwo Jima) in 2000. John Wayne is an iconic star that reached stardom and never fell from that summit even after his death. In his 72 years he managed to make 172 films, some great, some mediocre and a few that might have been bad choices. Regardless, his name is known worldwide among all ages of movie fans. This is a review of The Quiet Man Collector's Edition.
The Technicolor aspects, although not quite as spectacular as one might hope, along with the sizzle between the brave and braun Wayne and the desirable and beautiful O'Hara, make it worthy to own. All the DVD's in release contain the same story of romance, intrigue, and conflict about conflict about an improbable marriage and the joys and fears that come with it. (You can read the full review of The Quiet Man by classic movie guide Adam Hakari here.) Yet The Quiet Man: Collector's Edition has bonus features that add to the enjoyment of the film.
